API Keys

Create and manage API keys for authenticating with the YourCalls public API.

You can manage API keys from the dashboard at /client/api-keys.

note

API keys are only available on paid plans. If you're on the Starter plan, you'll see an upgrade prompt instead.

Managing API Keys

The API Keys page shows all your active and revoked keys in a table with the following columns:

  • Name: The label you gave the key when creating it.
  • Key: A masked version showing only the prefix and last 4 characters (e.g., yc_live_****abcd).
  • Created: The date the key was created (formatted as day, month, year).
  • Expires: The expiration date and time, or "—" if the key never expires.
  • Status: Badge showing whether the key is Active (brand color), Revoked (red), or Expired (yellow).
  • Actions: A Revoke button appears for active keys only.

If you don't have any API keys yet, you'll see an empty state with a Create API key button.

Creating an API Key

  1. Click Create API key (this button is only visible if you're on a paid plan).
  2. Fill in the form:
    • Name: A descriptive label (for example, Zapier integration or Production App). This field is required.
    • Never expires: Check this box if you want the key to remain valid indefinitely. When checked, the "Expires at" field is disabled.
    • Expires at: If "Never expires" is unchecked, use the datetime picker to select a date and time when the key should expire.
  3. Click Create key to generate the key.

After creation, a modal will appear showing your full API key:

  • The key is displayed in a highlighted box at the top of the modal.
  • Copy the key immediately — you won't be able to view it again after closing the modal.
  • Click Copy key to copy it to your clipboard (the button will change to "Copied" with a checkmark).
  • Click Done when finished to close the modal.

Revoking Keys

If a key is compromised or no longer needed:

  1. Find the key in the table (only active keys show a Revoke button).
  2. Click Revoke on the active key.
  3. A confirmation dialog will appear asking "Revoke API key?" with a warning that this action cannot be undone.
  4. Click Revoke key to confirm, or cancel to keep the key active.

Revoked keys cannot be reactivated. The key's status will change to Revoked (red badge) in the table, and it will no longer work for API authentication. You'll need to create a new key if you need API access again.
